Happy Dollars
Ray had a Happy Dollar because the Phillies won
3 games so far, and could soon be on their way to the World Series.
Ecuador
Susanna talked about international matching
grants. The matching grants for Ecuador go mostly for homeless or
elderly shelters, where kitchen appliances and re-hab equipment is
needed. Grants are also used for water projects, and education for
maintenance for the water projects. Susanna hopes for some help for some
of these projects.

GSE Team
Susanna Falck and Josh Tilghman members of the
2008 Group Study Exchange were guests. Josh talked to the club about the
Group Study Exchange trip to Brazil. The group toured the North East
corner of Brazil. The group attended many of the Rotary clubs in Brazil,
as many as 2 or 3 a day. Fruits were very popular in the open markets
that the club visited. The currency in Brazil is the Real. The US dollar
is about $1.63 in Real exchange. The favorite sport in Brazil is soccer.
Beef, red meat, seafood and rice is included in about every meal. The
military in Brazil is similar to the US National Guard. Education is
highly prized in Brazil. EMAP is the world's deepest natural sea port.
Brazil is a large producer of aluminum. Brazil is extremely flat land.
Brazil is a big producer of cashews, which grow on trees. There is a lot
of social integration in Brazil, you must have money to go to high
school, but the education is free as long as a student can pass the
tests. If you go to high school, you are guaranteed to go to college.
The group also attended lots of media tours.
