Fines and Happy Dollars

Sharon was Sergeant of Arms and her questions were: what was the first sound animated cartoon 80 years ago in 1928-Steamboat Willy, Who stared in Steamboat Willy-Mickey Mouse, what year did the US and Canada introduce a standard for time zones-1883, what state proposes an increase in sales tax to fix an 11 billion dollar gap in their state budget-California.

Sharon had Happy Dollars for the 2 new members, and also because here grandson Andrew will have his 22nd birthday tomorrow (Nov. 19th) Lamar had a Happy Dollar because MaryLee's trip to the emergency room on Sunday was not as serious as she thought it might be. Bob Mertz had a Happy Dollar because he finally made it to our club.

Exchange Student

Niki visited New York City this past weekend where she saw the Broadway show Chicago, and this coming weekend she will be going to the Poconos.

New Members

President LaMar opened the meeting and introduced guests DG Jim Gruber and Assistant DG Bob Mertz. The DG and Assistant were attending our meeting to induct new members Pam Wagner and Onie Lauver. DG Jim told the new members that Rotary is not a political, charitable or religious organization, but members make use of all these options. Make Dreams Real is this years theme, and this year's color is navy blue. Sharon shared some of our programs with the new members and invited them to join any of them that they might be interested in.

Treasury

The balance in our treasury on November 7th was $4,045.99.

International Convention

The Rotary International Convention will be in Birmingham England next year, and in Montreal Canada in 2010.
