Becky won $7.00 for the 50/50 drawing, and Sharon drew the 4 of Spades from the card deck. There is $144 in the pot.

Fines & Happy Dollars

Ray was Sergeant of Arms and fined members if they were late, and if they did not have a Rotary pin on.

LaMar had a Happy Dollar because after tonight Howard will be president. Mike had a Happy Dollar for the support he had at election time, being nominated for Judge.

Guests

Snyder County Prison warden Ruth Rush was a guest. Dave Snyder a Rotarian from Canada, and Pam's daughter were also guests. Dave brought a banner from his home club, and was presented with one from our club. Dave's club has 45 members, and their best fund raisers are lobster and rib fests, which earn the club thousands of dollars.

Awards

DG Jim was also at the meeting, and he presented the club with the Presidential Citation, and presented perfect attendance awards to Howard for 32 years, Sharon 16 years, Tammy 7 years, MaryLee 6 years, and Sue and Becky 5 years.

DG Jim also installed the new officers for next year President-Howard, Vice President-Mihai, Secretary-Sharon, and Treasurer-Becky. Howard also recognized LaMar as last year's president.

Snyder County Prison

Rose Rush talked about the Snyder County Prison. Ruth has worked with the prison for 14 years, she started as a correction officer, and has been warden for the past 4 years. The prison accommodates male and female inmates, and has male and female dorms, also work release units, maximum security units, and areas for witness protection and special cases. The prison currently has a program where the women crochet items and donate them to children's hospitals. The prison is a 146 bed facility, and has 76 staff members, male & female. The prison is inspected by the state and federal bureau of corrections. The prison also houses inmates from other counties and the US Marshall Service. Medical expenses for inmates are paid for by tax payer money. Immigration inmates are no longer house in Snyder County. Inmates are charged $5.00 a day for the first stay, $10.00 for the 2nd stay, and $5.00 a day more for each additional stay.

Family Picnic

The Rotary family picnic will be at MaryLee and LaMar's on August 11th at 6:00. Chicken will be provided, members should bring a covered dish.
