50/50

Carolyn won $7.00 for the 50/50 drawing, and MaryLee  drew the three of hearts from the card deck. There is $65 in the pot and 43 cards in the deck.

Fines and Happy Dollars

Fines were paid if members were late, if you were not at last week's meeting, if you did not know how many computer screens each dispatcher has at the 911 center, how many stations are in the center, and also if a member did not introduce a guest.

Jean had a happy dollar for Chad Aucker talking to the club, Sharon had a happy dollar because she heard from Martina, Carolyn had a happy dollar because she heard from Belin, and Howard had a happy dollar because the club will hopefully be getting an exchange student.

Exchange Student

Sharon told the club we have a potential foreign exchange student, a girl from Brazil.  She is in contact with the district representatives to get it approved through the school district.

DG Corbett Monica

Next week will be a board meeting at 5:00pm, Corbett Monica will be at the regular meeting.

Family Picnic

A picnic at MaryLee and LaMar's is scheduled for the meeting on July 31st, members should bring their family, a covered dish and a wrapped gift for each person attending.

Perfect Attendance

After the meeting members with perfect attendance had their picture taken.

911 Coordinator

Chad Aucker the 911 Coordinator for Snyder County was the program . Chad told the club that the surcharges on cell phone bills helps to pay for new equipment to keep our 911 center updated. 4-5 million dollars was granted to Snyder County from these charges.

The 911 center not only takes emergency calls, but also can provide services for Children and Youth, Probation, Dog Protection services, and other support. Dispatchers routinely handle calls for fire, EMS and police. Recent renovations amounted to $800,000.00 in new equipment. The 911 center has 8 incoming lines, 4 cell lines, and 3 lines for outgoing calls. Each dispatcher has 5 computer screens in front of him, and there are 7 stations. The center uses CAD (computer aided dispatch). Verizon is the source of info for addresses, so any change of address should be reported to your Verizon phone provider.

All dispatchers are professionally trained. There is a haz-mat terrorism task force in place, that monitors large businesses with hazardous chemicals on their property. The center also has a mass casualty team, with trailers and gators available. The Snyder County 911 center handles about 85,000 calls a year.
