50/50

John won $6.00 for the 50/50 drawing, and Sharon  drew the two of diamonds from the card deck. There is $58 in the pot and 44 cards in the deck.

Fines and Happy Dollars

Becky was Sergeant of Arms, and collected $1.00 from Sue for leaving the meeting early, and an IOU from Cindy. Members also paid fines if they saw fire works this past week, if they went swimming this past week, and someone paid a fine for ringing the bell early. Also the president was fined because she did not give Becky the cue to start.

Ray had a happy dollar because he had a call from his son-in-law in Alaska, who will be coming home in September. Jean had a happy dollar because her youngest son became engaged on the 4th of July. MaryLee had a happy dollar because her whole family was together this past week-end. Tammy had a happy dollar for her daughter Cara going to CNA school, and her husband Bryan's cat scratch fever is almost gone.

Guests

Tammy read a letter asking the club to vote on a decision that was made to change the number of people on the nominating committee for Rotary International President from 17 to 34 members. The club voted to oppose this decision. There are 34 zones, and all clubs are asked to vote to have this changed. The cost of having a committee of 34 is too expensive, and also a lot of confusion with this many people on a committee.

Rotary Foundation

PDG Karen Teichman was at the meeting to install the new officers. Tammy presented Carolyn with a past president plaque for the year 2006-2007. Howard presented perfect attendance pins to Jean-2 years, Sue Nerhood and Becky-3 years, MaryLee-4 years, Tammy-5 years, Sharon-14 years, and Howard-30 years.

Thank You

Thank-yous all around for incoming and outgoing officers. After a group picture Carolyn thanked club members for all their help with past projects such as the Chinese Auction, the 3rd grade dictionary project, Care and Share, the Christmas party for club members and the one for the kids at the MACC, the Ecuador water project, the wine-tasting social, the Easter egg hunt, the student loan project, and the Beaver Fair stand. Carolyn passed Tammy a scrap book to keep track of projects this year.
