50/50

Virginia won $7.00 for the 50/50 drawing, and Elaine drew the eight of hearts from the card deck. There is $84 in the pot and 40 cards in the deck.

Fines and Happy Dollars

Everyone saved their quarters this week as there were no fines.

Exchange Student

Tammy received a call from our foreign exchange student Flavia from Brazil, and she will be here on Saturday.

The meeting for hosts of exchange students went well, and our club was the only one to have all the host families attend.

Guest

Sue talked about the Chinese Auction, and showed members some examples of things to use to fill a basket for the Chinese Auction. Sharon had some baskets for members to take and fill for the auction.

Beaver Fair

Becky passed around a sign-up sheet for the Beaver Fair. Monday night of the fair will be 75 cent night.

UN Day

Tammy also got an e-mail from Corbett about UN day on November 3rd, it is a Saturday from 9:30a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and reservations need to be in by October.

September

Sharon and Sue Kodlick will have programs for September.

Thank You

We received a thank-you note from Krista Strawser for the Community Service award at graduation.

Membership

Sharon talked about Rotary membership. One of the first things new Rotarians learn is the Rotary song, and the 4-Way test. An important part of being a Rotarian is helping to get new members and to retain present members. As a Rotarian members have the privilege and the obligation to find new members and to help your club achieve goals. The process of possible new members is to first submit the person's name to the board, the board then votes yes or no, if it is yes the name must be advertised in the bulletin for 2 weeks, in that 2 weeks if anyone has a problem with that person they will write a letter to the president, and that person will possibly be denied membership. If accepted that person will be invited to a meeting and asked if they would like to join. No club members are members of Rotary International, only Rotary clubs belong to Rotary International. Members only belong to Rotary clubs.

School History

Elaine brought some old school records that were found when they cleaned out some old files at the school. Some of the records were over a hundred years old, and will be given to the historical society, club members enjoyed looking at them.
